The non-cringey posing guide for couples who just want to feel like themselves
First of all: if you're nervous about photos, you're in good company.
Most couples I photograph say something like:“We’re so awkward in front of the camera.”“We have no idea how to pose.”“I hate staged photos but still want nice ones…”
Good news? That’s normal. And totally fixable.
Because the best photos—the ones that make you say “wow, that’s us”—don’t come from posing. They come from feeling comfortable enough to just be yourselves.
🧠 Forget "posing." Think: movement, connection, play.
You won’t hear me say “put your hand here, tilt your chin 47 degrees…”That’s not the vibe.
Instead, I’ll gently guide you into movement or prompts like:
“Walk like you’re sneaking snacks into the movies.”
“Hold hands and sway like you’re dancing in the kitchen.”
“Whisper your favorite breakfast food in your most romantic voice.”
“Pretend you’re already married and just won $100k.”
(Yes, it gets silly. But silly is where the good stuff lives.)
👣 A few tips to help you feel good in front of the lens:
1. Wear something you feel really good in.Not what you think you should wear—what makes you feel like a 10. If you’re adjusting your shirt every 3 minutes or worried about your shoes, it’ll show. Comfort = confidence.
2. Don’t try to pose.Seriously. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands. That’s my job. Your job is to show up, be present, and enjoy your person.
3. Focus on each other.Look at them. Laugh with them. Hold them like you mean it. The more you forget about the camera, the better.
4. Trust the process.Even if you feel like a baby giraffe mid-session, I promise it’s going to look beautiful. You’re not doing it wrong. Just keep moving, keep laughing, and let the awkwardness be part of the fun.
TL;DR: You don’t need to pose perfectly. You just need to show up as you.
That’s where the real magic is.
And if all else fails… we’ll fake a wind machine and call it editorial 😌
You’ve got this.
And I’ve got you.
